The ability to offer specialized instruction to students in remote locations is possible over existing infrastructure.
Through distance education, a teacher can introduce students to people, places, and experiences without the traditional restrictions of time limitations or geographical barriers. You can take your students around the world, but have them home in time for dinner and homework.
Educational institutions can more efficiently conduct staff development for teachers and administrators by bringing together several districts, regions or even countries to discuss teaching methods, instructional projects and assessment strategies.
Here is a small sampling of resources that currently offer programs available through videoconferencing. This is an extract from the SERESC Teaching American History website.
