Presidio Networked Solutions contacted us to work with their customer, Maine Medical to develop a solution for their new Scarborough facility conference room. The room is 27’ x 21’ and can be divided into conference room A and Conference room B. They wanted the ability to open the room up for larger meetings and be able to divide the room to hold two smaller meetings. This room presented several design problems.
When the room is in combined mode, the best solution would have been an in-ceiling screen and ceiling mounted projector. However when the room is in divided mode, the ceiling projector would be in the path of the dividing wall.
The customer wanted to hold a videoconference in either combined room but only in Conference room A when in divided room mode. This presents a problem in where to place displays, microphones, and speakers.
The orientation of the displays had to allow for viewing of the display by both rooms.
The customer also wanted the ability in combined mode to display the content on one display and people on the other. But in divided mode the display would have to operate independently.
Any racks required would have to be made from OAK to match the other furniture in the room.
The budget would not allow for Zoned microphones.
After meeting with the Maine Medical and understanding their needs we designed the following solution:
Conference Room A:
A custom made solid OAK cabinet with rack rails.
Polycom 7000e videoconferencing system mounted in the Podium.
A wall mounted 60” plasma mounted on the North wall.
The Polycom camera was mounted below the plasma.
Two ceiling mounted microphones.
Two ceiling mounted speakers.
An Extron Media Links control wall panel.
Audio Video Wall connection plate.
Conference Room B:
A customer made solid OAK cabinet with rack rails.
A wall mounted 60” plasma mounted on the West wall.
Audio Video Wall connection plate.
