Overview:
Presidio Networked Solutions contacted us to design an audio, video and videoconferencing solution for their new 24 x 40 conference room. The room would be used for company-wide meetings and smaller management meetings. Some of these meetings would include videoconferencing to other Presidio locations. Presidio wished to hold audio conferences and when necessary be able to link the audio call into a video call.
They wished to have both a hand held and lavaliere wireless microphone be heard in the room and by the far side during a videoconference. They also wanted to provide mic coverage for the audience during a videoconference or audio conference call. They wanted the ability to send a PC and a front and rear camera to the projectors. They wanted to send the PC audio, audio from the wireless mics and audio from the far side to the speakers.
The Solution:
We contacted Multimedia Specialists to help us design and install the solution. The first decision was how to orient the room. The rooms ceiling high of 9’ would limit the height of the screen to a maximum of 4 feet. A 16 x 9 screen would result in a 7 ‘wide screen. A 4 x 3 aspect screen would result in a 5‘ screen. Neither of these would provide a large enough viewing area for those in the back of the room. We therefore placed two DA-SNAP - HDTV FORMAT 54" x 96" 110" Diagonal image screens on the long wall with two WL639U projectors.
For audio we installed 12 Bose Ceiling mounted loudspeakers. For audience participation in a videoconference and participation in an audio conference we installed six ClockAudio Ceiling Mounted Microphone. For presenter audio we installed a Shure Lavaliere and hand held microphone. We use the Clearone XAP 800 – 8-channel AEC Microphone Mixer for audio processing and the Clearone XAP TH2 – Telephone Hybrid with telco noise cancellation for phone teleconferencing. To control the system we used the Crestron Professional Dual Bus Control System. 1 Z-Bus slot and 3 Y-Bus slots. Built-inPower Supply with the Crestron 8" Wi-fi wireless touch panel.
Presidio provided a Tandberg 95 Edge HD videoconferencing. We programmed the Crestron system to control the Tandberg 95 Edge. Presidio wanted the HD camera to be at the rear of the room and function as the Presenter camera. The distance between the 96 Edge and the HD camera required Presidio to purchase the Tandberg HD camera kit that provides three extension cables. For the Audience camera, we provided a Sony EVI-D70 camera on the front wall as the audience camera.
